Steinbeck uses foreshadowing in of mice and men to put the readers in suspense as they might think something like that is going to happen for example when candys dog was shot that is foreshadowed into when George shots lennie and this is foreshadowing because when someone shot candys dog he felt really upset as they where together for so long aswell as George and lennie because they where friends for so long and the went everywhere with eachother until lennie weren’t too far and he killed someone and then George shot lennie.

John Steinbeck uses the colour red the most to describe curley’s wife. He uses it for her clothes, hair and nails. He describes her as if she is an attention seeker for example Steinbeck said she had full, rouged lips and wide spaced eyes heavily made up. A quote from this is “I’m lookin for curley”. Steinbeck said her voice had a nasal brittle quality. He is describing her as if she wants lots of men to come to her.

“I ought to of shoot that dog myself, George. I shouldn’t ought to let no stranger shoot my dog.” Said by Candy.

1)Candy 2)the significance of this quotation is that he is regretting letting someone kill his own dog an as he had the dog since he was a pup an he had a really good friendship that lennie and George had.

“Why didnt he shoot his own dog”. Candy regretted shooting his own dog he shouldnt ought let no stranger shoot his (Candy) dog.”
